How do builders get materials to the top of skyscrapers?

This week, the children started their new Science topic for this half-term, forces and magnets. The children started their topic by investigating pulleys and how they work efficiently, to move materials to different heights. Initially, we started by looking at a range of skyscrapers and considered how they were built, before having an opportunity to discuss how construction workers manage to move heavy items to such high levels. We discussed the materials we would need to create our own pulley, to investigate moving objects from different heights in the classroom. When the children had created and investigated, they then considered modifications and reviewed their creations.
