All about Australia!
This half-term in Class 2 we are going to be learning all about Australia! We are very excited about our new topic. We started our learning journey last week by going on a 'virtual' visit to the airport, to our surprise destination of Australia. We are going to be considering landmarks, areas within and oceans around the continent.

Check our Class news to see what we have been up to so far!

In science this half-term we are going to be learning about Plants.  Observing a variety of common garden plants, evergreen and deciduous trees and parts of plants and birds. We started looking at the trees in our Forest school area last week, take a look at the pictures on our class news page.

General Reminders

  • The children will be doing PE on Monday and Thursday. Please ensure your child arrives to school in their kit.
  • The children will be encouraged to bring in their own water bottle to keep in class which they can access throughout the day. Please make sure your child’s name is written clearly on their bottle.
  • The children may also bring in a small healthy snack to enjoy during the morning break. Please ensure that no nuts, or items containing nuts are sent into school.

Reading in Year 2

The children will complete daily guided and individual reading tasks with adults in school. Please ensure that your child has their home reading book in school on their reading day. It is vitally important that they regularly read with an adult at home. Please ensure that you sign your child’s record diary.

Spelling lists are sent home on a Friday and are tested the following Friday. These words are linked to the phonic and spellings work that the children do in school and may be following a specific phonic pattern or common keywords that the children need to learn to spell correctly, in order to improve the fluency in their writing.

Homework will be set on a Friday and will be expected to be returned the following Friday. The children’s homework will be provided online (Teams), if you are needing support accessing the activities please contact the school. The children have been given new reading diaries, in the front of the diary the children’s usernames and passwords have been provided.
