All about Me box

Each Tuesday one child will be chosen to be our Star of the Week and will bring home our special ‘All About Me’ box. They will be asked to fill the box with small items and return the box to school the following Tuesday so that they can share them with the rest of the class. Further instructions will be sent home with the box.

As well as being a fun activity, this exercise also forms a fundamental part of the Speaking & Listening curriculum.

General Reminders…

  • The children will be doing PE on Mondays and Thursdays. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and that all items are clearly labelled. We encourage children to practise getting dressed at home to help them get changed quickly in school!
  • The children will be encouraged to bring in their own water bottle to keep in class which they can access throughout the day. Please make sure your child’s name is written clearly on their bottle.
  • The children may also bring in a small healthy snack to enjoy during the morning break. Please ensure that no nuts, or items containing nuts are sent into school.

Reading in Year 2...

The children will complete daily guided and individual reading tasks with adults in school. Please ensure that your child has their home reading book in school on their reading day. It is vitally important that they regularly read with an adult at home. Please ensure that you sign your child’s record diary.

Spelling lists are sent home on a Monday and are tested the following Monday. These words are linked to the phonic work that the children do in school and may be following a specific phonic pattern or common key words that the children need to learn to spell correctly, in order to improve the fluency in their writing.
