Curriculum Overview

At Summerseat Methodist Primary School, we are committed to providing high quality teaching and learning opportunities in order to ensure that all pupils receive the highest standard of education. This year, we have launched our ‘Summerseat Steps in Learning’ curriculum overviews which outline the broad and balanced curriculum that all our pupils can expect. As well as outlining key topics and subject content for each year group, it contains a learning skills section and also enhancement opportunities to ensure our children are given opportunities to develop the skills and attributes they need to pursue their dreams and become life-long learners. We believe that children should enjoy their learning experiences so work to provide meaningful and engaging learning experiences because happy children make fantastic learners!

The 'Steps in learning' for Year One to Year Six and our whole school long term plan are available to download below. As we have two year groups within a class from Year One to Year Six, we have a Cycle A and Cycle B planning system. This year, we are following Cycle A. For Reception, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and this is also provided below.

For further detail on our approach to each subject, please look at the individual subject pages.
