4. Assessment
📊 Assessment
Assessment in Blossom is personalised, meaningful and focused on progress from each child’s starting point. It is typically based on ongoing teacher assessment.
Where appropriate, children may access statutory assessments with suitable access arrangements. This is more common for pupils working within Pathway 3.
We use a combination of:
- PIVATS (Performance Indicators for Valued Assessment and Targeted Learning), where appropriate
- EHCP outcome tracking
- Observational assessment of communication, regulation and independence
Assessment helps us:
- Identify the right next steps
- Adapt teaching strategies
- Review curriculum pathway placement
- Share clear progress with families
We use an inclusive approach to assessment, recognising that progress includes:
- Academic learning
- Communication development
- Emotional regulation
- Social interaction
- Increasing independence
Parents receive regular updates through SeeSaw, alongside structured review meetings.
